# Framer

> Connect Genseo to Framer and sync articles to a CMS collection.

The Genseo Framer integration syncs articles from your Genseo project to a Framer CMS collection.

## Set up the integration

### 1. Open the Genseo plugin in Framer

1. Open the [Genseo plugin in the Framer Marketplace](https://www.framer.com/marketplace/plugins/genseo/).
2. Click **Open Plugin**.
3. Select the Framer project you want to connect.

### 2. Create the CMS collection

When prompted by the plugin, create the suggested CMS collection. The collection contains the fields Genseo needs when syncing articles.

### 3. Generate a Framer API key in Genseo

1. Open your Genseo project.
2. Go to **Integrations**.
3. Select **Framer**.
4. Click **Generate new API key**.
5. Copy the complete key.

  Treat the Framer integration key as a secret. Do not commit it to Git, place it in frontend code, or share it in screenshots and support chats.

### 4. Connect the Framer plugin

1. Return to the Genseo plugin in Framer.
2. Paste the integration key.
3. Click **Connect**.

### 5. Sync articles

After the connection succeeds:

1. Close the plugin panel.
2. Open the connected CMS collection.
3. Click **Sync** in the Framer top bar.

  Framer requires a manual sync. Open the collection and click **Sync** whenever you want to pull new or updated articles from Genseo.

## Troubleshooting

### Connection failed

* Confirm that you copied the complete integration key.
* Generate a new key in Genseo and reconnect.
* Confirm that the key belongs to the intended Genseo project.

### Articles do not appear

* Confirm that the correct Framer project and CMS collection are open.
* Check that the articles are ready to publish in Genseo.
* Click **Sync** again after reconnecting the plugin.

### Collection not found

* Confirm that you created the suggested collection during setup.
* Check that you opened the same Framer project used during connection.
* Create a new collection and reconnect if the original collection was deleted.

## Best practices

* Test the connection with one article before syncing a larger batch.
* Keep the CMS collection structure stable after connecting it.
* Verify the synced title, slug, content, image, and metadata before publishing the Framer site.
* Rotate the integration key if it was exposed or shared accidentally.
